The AKRON CIRCLE BURNERS is a Control Line model aviation club comprised of highly skilled, nationally known flyers to totally new and unskilled trainees. We embrace all disciplines of the sport, which includes SPEED, STUNT, COMBAT, CARRIER, TEAM RACING, SCALE, and SPORT flying. Several of our members have competed at both National and World Competition levels and are eager to share those experiences. We have experienced instructors who enjoy nothing more than seeing a “newbie” solo for the first time, or an old ”retread” enjoying past memories. Our members come from a diverse background. We have bankers, engineers, factory workers, truck drivers, college professors, musicians, and the list goes on, all with a common, shared, interest, model aviation. Our club also welcomes individuals that prefer to be “associate” members that do not fly but enjoy being involved with the sport.

We have a new flying site that is the envy of most of the clubs in the Eastern United States. It is located at the historic Akron Municipal Airport across from the equally historic Derby Downs. There are two flying circles. Circle #1 is a well-groomed grass circle. Circle #2 is a completely paved asphalt circle with a removable speed pylon. We have a covered pavilion for shade and shelter. The entire site is fenced in for your safety and security.

Our club offers programs for teaching “newbies” in all the model disciplines. We also offer refresher lessons for all the retreads and “used to be's”. Our Speed flyers can also offer lessons in the unique use of “Mono Line” flying.
